About Word Whiz
There are different ways to write an ‘About Us’ description for a website or blog site. Some people write from the subjective position using the first person (“I, we, me”) point of view, whereas others write from the objective position using the third person (“It, he, one”) point of view. For example, if someone else did the copywriting about Christina Famiglietti (aka Word Whiz), one can assume it would be written from the objective position, but since Word Whiz is me, I’ll be writing about myself from the subjective position.
Who is Word Whiz?
(3rd person, objective)
Who am I? (1st person, subjective)
As someone who has been studying writing and editing techniques and who has been writing and editing professionally for over 25 years, I am by nature a copywriter. With a penchant for proper English grammar, punctuation, usage ― a keen sense of observation and creative inclination with a vivid imagination ― writing has always been what I do best.
Before entering college, I attended an international High School in Europe, where an English teacher inspired me to pursue writing with his encouragement. I continued to hone my skill, graduating from college with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English (1984), followed by a complementary interest in human behavior and then graduating with a Master of Arts degree in Psychology (1997).
I began my training with an internship as a staff writer for an international relief organization. This is where I learned the grueling process of editing, revising, and rewriting until finally attaining the desired result. I continued writing professionally for an aerospace company in the employee communications department, which evolved into a marketing communications career with various Fortune 500 companies, where I wrote and developed promotional materials for many years.
With the growth of the Internet and the need for specialized writing skills, words have never been more important than they are today. I decided to explore the world of Internet marketing, but poor local economic conditions led me to seek work internationally. In 2009, I moved to Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico to write web content and blog posts for a resort company where I have learned the invaluable skill of writing using keywords for SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
After two years, I relocated to the Riviera Nayarit (Nuevo Vallarta, Punta de Mita, Sayulita, San Pancho, Rincon de Guayabitos, et al.) in 2011 to explore Mexico’s Pacific Coast while I continued copywriting, editing, and proofreading web content and blog articles for a number of travel and tourism businesses.
Unfortunately, the increased number of security warnings discouraging travel to Mexico reduced the need for travel and tourism writing, so I returned to the United States of America – now in Texas – where I continue to work as a professional copywriter and editor in the business sector.
